Update – March 29, 2020

Here are some updates for the upcoming week:

This week will see the Strawberry Vale Staff begin to connect and develop our continuity of learning plans for students. It will take us time to develop these plans and as we work on these school plans the Greater Victoria School District  https://learn.sd61.bc.ca/news-events/elem-home-activites  and Ministry of Education https://www.openschool.bc.ca/keeplearning/ have developed websites with suggestions for parents and caregivers to keep their children learning at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are still many steps we need to take and questions we need to address as we move into the coming weeks but I will continue to provide updates and info as it becomes available. This link to FAQs the Ministry of Education has created provides some further information. https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/education/administration/kindergarten-to-grade-12/safe-caring-orderly/bc-ministry-of-education-questions-and-answers-continuity-of-learning-k-12-education_system.pdf

The Greater Victoria School District is also surveying families to determine how many parents and guardians are essential service workers and may require childcare in the coming weeks. If you are an essential service worker please share your input and complete the survey.

As a reminder, at this time we ask that all students and families stay home and not come to the school to pick up belongings and items. I will be communicating a plan to allow students and families to pick up belongings and items next week but it needs to be in a coordinated process that ensures everyone’s safety. If there is something you need immediately please contact me directly.

As always, if you have questions please feel free to connect with myself  srthomas@sd61.bc.ca or Mrs. Marley emarley@sd61.bc.ca

I will provide an update later in the week and until then take care of yourselves and your families.

Scott Thomas
